Heart of Outreach
Blooming Compassion was founded by Professor Zan Asante as an outreach of Poems in Bloom Media. It is a project very dear to her heart. At the age of 8, Zan's father died of a heart attack and less than one year later, her mother was murdered (a victim of gun violence). Zan and her brother Drand were raised by their grandmother, Angeline Oliver (affectionately known as "Mama." Her testimony has bloomed into compassion to encourage and assist children and teens. "God has blessed me abundantly with my loving husband Tony and two beautiful children, Kofi, 27 and Zanbria, 25, and daughter-in-love, Dr. Raquel. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13."
Zan is a professor, poet, writer, producer, and CEO of Poems in Bloom Media (which inspires through spoken word, Scripture, music, and creative images. She is also member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
